Preserving our park for the community

Welcome to Friends of Montgomery Street Park

Conserving and enhancing our park • Engaging the Hillside community • Promoting the park's scenic, historical, and ecological qualities

Your Local Park in Edinburgh's Hillside

Montgomery Street Park is nestled in Edinburgh's vibrant Hillside neighbourhood, bounded by Montgomery Street, South Elgin Street, Brunswick Street, and West Thomas Street. This two-and-a-half acre green space has served our community since 1887.

Our Mission

We work to protect and enhance Montgomery Street Park as a vital green space for Hillside residents and the wider Leith community. Our efforts focus on conservation, wildlife protection, and creating opportunities for all ages to enjoy nature in the heart of Edinburgh.

Community Focused

Serving the densely populated tenement streets of Hillside, our park is a precious oasis. We organize events, maintain green spaces, and create opportunities for neighbours to connect with nature and each other right here in EH7.

Get Involved

Whether you live on Montgomery Street, South Elgin Street, or anywhere in Hillside and Leith, join us for regular events, volunteer your time, or simply enjoy your local park. Every contribution helps preserve this Edinburgh treasure.

What We Care About

We're a friendly group of neighbours who love our local park. Here's what brings us together:

  • Caring for Nature: Looking after our trees, wildflowers, and the wildlife that calls our park home
  • Bringing People Together: Everyone is welcome here, from longtime residents to newcomers
  • Working as a Team: Making decisions together and keeping everyone in the loop
  • Green & Sustainable: Being kind to our environment in everything we do
  • Partnering Up: Working hand-in-hand with the Council and local groups
