Creative Edinburgh Awards 2025 Finalists!

The Helter Skelter project has been named one of four finalists in the Creative Edinburgh Awards 2025, competing in the Collaboration Award category.

This is fantastic recognition for the work that went into saving and reimagining the helter skelter and turning it into something new that keeps its story alive.

Wildlife & Nature Projects

We've been busy making our park even better for nature:

  • Built dead hedges from branches - perfect homes for wildlife!
  • Planted yellow rattle to help our wildflowers thrive
  • Added spring bulbs (daffodils and bluebells) for early bees and butterflies

Community Get-Togethers

We love bringing everyone together for a good time:

  • Our massive Halloween party with pumpkin carving, games, and the best costume parade in Hillside!
  • Fun fundraising events that bring neighbours together

Park Improvements

Working with the Council to make our park even better:

  • New play equipment on the way - exciting times for the kids!
  • Found the perfect spot for an accessible picnic bench
  • Always working on ways to make the park welcoming for everyone

Our homegrown magazine made by your neighbours:

  • We did it! Crowdfunded our second issue - what a celebration that was!
  • Packed with park news, nature spotting, and stories from local volunteers
  • Written, designed, and shared by people right here in Hillside
